Flavio Bolsonaro flees Brazil after election loss, US says will grant visa
Flavio Bolsonaro, a senator and son of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, has reportedly left Brazil. The United States has indicated it will grant him a visa.
News comes one day after Brazil's Supreme Court ordered Bolsonaro to hand over his passports in money-laundering probe.
Background
This development follows closely on the heels of Brazil's recent presidential election loss by Jair Bolsonaro. The country's Supreme Court had previously ordered Jair Bolsonaro to surrender his passports as part of a money-laundering investigation.
Why it matters
The departure of Flavio Bolsonaro and the potential US visa grant raise questions about political asylum and the ongoing legal investigations in Brazil.
Possible impact
This event could signal further political uncertainty in Brazil and potentially influence international relations, particularly between Brazil and the United States.
